A Few Words About Joan

Joan Ting Wong was born and raised in the beautiful city of San Francisco, California. Being raised in the city, it was easy to keep her heritage and Chinese language of Cantonese. As a young girl, Joan had always loved performing whether it was Chinese Folk Dancing, piano, singing, or even putting up skits and magic shows for the family. She didn’t truly discover the art of acting until the fifth grade school play. It wasn’t until high school where Joan dived into drama class and theater. She even joined a theater troop performing plays all over the Bay Area to children hospitals and senior retirement homes.

After graduating college from Cal State University of Northridge, with a degree in Business Management Science, Joan decided to stay in Los Angeles where she did some modeling as side jobs.

Joan also had an opportunity to travel to Bangkok, Thailand to model, MC, and do radio commercials. This was ironic because the radio stations wanted their commercials to have a more American sound. While in Bangkok, Joan’s love for sports and racing truly came out. She was sponsored by Team Birel to race professional go-kart. Being one of a few female top racers, Joan was asked to race composition cars too! However, she turned it down because she could not wait to get back to Los Angeles to continue her acting career.

Over this time, Joan had studied with East-West Players, The Groundlings, Meisner Technique, and is currently working out at the Beverly Hills Playhouse advance class taught by two brilliantly talented teachers, Allen Barton and Art Cohan. Joan has since appeared in numerous television shows like Touch, Monk, The Closer, Arli$$, Rock Me Baby, and Women On Top, amongst others.
